Hi Everyone!
Hope me you are all having a great week so far. We finally got some rain here in Manitoba and I hope that the fires across Manitoba will be put out by this rainfall. I also hope that the Fort McMurray fire goes out soon. I am so glad that almost everyone got out of there alive and that the fire didn't get everything. If anyone is interested in donating money to the Canadian Red Cross text FIRES to 45678 to donate $10. Or text REDCROSS to 30333 to donate $5.
Now, onto my iPad case!
I am so in love with this case. I can't believe how gorgeous it turned out. It was easy and quick to knit up, and the pattern wasn't too hard to follow. It is simply an 8-row repeat. No hard stitches other than knit and purl, so this is definitely a beginners pattern. It is a very versatile pattern and you can change it to fit any tablet or computer that you would like by either adding or subtracting 8 stitches.

Finished product should be 9.5" wide by 22" long. Check your guage before starting and change needles as needed.
Pattern:
Cast on 39 stitches.
Knit 6 rows in garter stitch.
Follow brocade pattern below for next 20".
Brocade Pattern:

Row 3: k5, *p1,k3; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2
Row 4: k3, p1, *k1, p5, k1,p1; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3
Row 5: k3, *p1, k7; rep from * to last 4 sts, p1, k3
Row 6: (same as row 4) k3, p1, *k1,p5,k1,p1; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3
Row 7: (same as row 3) k5, *p1, k3; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2
Row 8: (same as row 2) k3, p3, *k1, p1, k1, p5; rep from * to last 9 sts, k1, p1, k1, p3, k3
Repeat rows 1-8 of this pattern until piece is 21" long.
Knit 6 rows in garter st.
Cast off. Weave in ends.
Seam the two sides together to form your case. The borders should match up in garter stitch and just weave them together with left over yarn.
If you want to line it....
Cut a piece of fabric measuring 9.5" wide by 20" long. You will need to fold over the two short ends and sew together to make a nice edge. I have 1/2" of extra material on both sides. I then sewed the two long sides together very close to the edge. Only about 1/4" of material on both sides for extra sewing room. Make you you see it together inside out as you want the pretty pattern on the inside where you can see it. After you have sewed it together, put it inside the iPad case and sew
it to the case along the sides and the top. Or just the top is fine too. As long as it is secured somewhere!

Now to finish it!
To finish my project I added 3 pairs of Velcro circles from Dollarama. I used hot glue to keep them in place as the sticker part just wasn't going to be sticky enough. I actually ended up adding 2 more pairs of Velcro as there were little gaps along the edge. I would recommend that you use either a Velcro strip or even better, a strong magnet strip along the whole edge. The Velcro catches a little bit, but not too bad!
