Hello. My name is Aynsley and this is my first post here. I am relatively new to knitting and have only been at it for about one year. I can tell you that it has been an interesting journey to where I am now. I have learned most of my knitting techniques off the internet (YouTube!!!) and have basically taught myself how to knit. I am sure there are things that I am not doing right, but as I go along, I learn more. I still suck at weaving in ends, but slowly, I am getting better. I don't really have a method for weaving in ends and I just pick stitches and hope it holds. So far, so good!
There is a reason that I named my website the dropped stitch diary. I am notorious for dropped stitches. All the time. I either miss a stitch and drop it, then have to figure out how to pick it back up. The other thing that also happens quite often is that I don't hold my needles right and the stitches actually end up just falling right off the end of my needle, then I'm scrambling to get them back on before my whole projects unravels. I have had to unravel part of a scarf because I had a stitch fall off and had no idea how to get it back up. I figured that I might as well just start over. More practise, right!
I am currently working on knitting dishcloths in my grandma's dishcloth pattern. (See picture below of dishcloth being made) She never taught me how to knit, but I'm learning and I think she would be having a hoot right now seeing how often I mess up. She knitted quite often and I still have a closet full of dishcloths from her, but it is quite relaxing to knit them and I like thinking that this would have brought us closer together.
If you have any questions about my projects please email me and I'll answer any questions you have.
Thanks,
Aynsley
PS Most of my patterns are found on the internet, so I will add links to the patterns whenever available. I will post patterns as I find them if I think they are interesting and turned out for me. I have had a couple of spectacular failures!
